11 undocumented migrant bodies recovered from the sea off the coast of Libya

Falcon powers – The organization “Médecins Sans Frontières” (Doctors Without Borders) reported that a charitable rescue ship recovered the bodies of 11 migrants off the coast of Libya yesterday, Friday, after rescuing more than 160 people from nearby boats near the Libyan coast.

The organization stated that their search and rescue ship “Geo Barents” rescued 146 migrants in two separate operations, and then discovered 20 others in a separate boat.

They also recovered 11 bodies spotted by a monitoring aircraft floating on the surface of the sea.

Médecins Sans Frontières said on their X platform account: “We don’t know the exact reason for this tragedy, but we know that people are still dying in a desperate attempt to reach safe haven. This slaughter must end.”

The “Sea-Watch” group, whose aircraft spotted the bodies, said it tried to contact the Libyan coastguard to go and recover the bodies, but received no response.

They said in a statement: “This is what happens in the Mediterranean, even when no one is watching.”
