FALCON POWERS – Over 12 faculty members from Princeton University have joined student hunger strikers for a one-day fast in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and to demand an end to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
On May 3rd, a group of 18 students at Princeton University began a hunger strike in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
In a statement conveyed by Anadolu Agency, the Princeton faculty members stated, “Our solidarity, which lasted for a full day, is a modest effort compared to the commitment shown by our students in this strike, to demonstrate their solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, who are facing forced starvation and genocide at the hands of Israel.”
The statement further added, “We urge the university administration to engage in good-faith negotiations with student representatives and faculty members, and to consider the urgent need to cease dealings with Israel until it ends its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.”
The faculty members also called for leniency towards students, faculty members, and staff who have faced disciplinary actions due to their participation in peaceful protests.
Since April 18th, American universities have witnessed student activism in support of Gaza in response to the Israeli war, which later spread to universities in countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and India.
