FALCON POWERS – The past few hours have seen several incidents in which the Israeli army has suffered losses due to technical or operational errors or friendly fire during operations in the Gaza Strip, making the army appear to be shooting itself in the foot despite its highly advanced technology.

Huge Bomb Accidentally Dropped

An Israeli media report revealed on Friday that a half-ton bomb was accidentally dropped by an Israeli military aircraft on a town within the Gaza envelope settlements.

The army radio stated on Friday that “a half-ton bomb belonging to the Israeli Air Force was accidentally dropped on the town of Yated in the Gaza envelope without exploding.” The radio did not provide further details on when the incident occurred or whether an investigation would be opened.

Media reports under the title “Serious Malfunction in the Israel Defense Forces” indicated that a huge bomb fell on Friday in Moshav Yated south of Otef and caused damage, as reported by the military and security affairs correspondent for Army Radio, Hillel Bitan Rosen.

The Eshkol Regional Council stated that “in the morning hours, the fall of the huge bomb from a fighter jet was discovered in the yard of a house in the settlement of Yated, and the security forces at the scene are working to evacuate the downed aircraft.”

It added that “the situation is being assessed by specialists at the scene, and based on that, instructions will be issued to the residents of Moshav who live near the site of the fall.. if necessary.. and the incident will be investigated by the Israel Defense Forces.”

It was not known whether the bomb and the aircraft from which it fell were en route to strike an area inside the Gaza Strip.
