A New Development on the “Philadelphia Axis”.. Is the Occupation Preparing to Hold on to It?

FALCON POWERS – The Hebrew media revealed, on Monday, a new development related to the military operation in the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, specifically along the “Philadelphia Axis” linking the Palestinian and Egyptian borders, coinciding with the ground invasion entering its third month.

The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” spoke about a military site that was established in the past few days west of the Philadelphia Axis, as a military facility for some of the Israeli army forces operating in the area.

The newspaper indicated that the Israeli army says “this is a temporary compound and it has not been determined whether it will become a permanent compound or not?”, adding that “the army is prepared to keep the axis in its hands, so it has built a military site west of Rafah, and is currently using it as a headquarters for some Israeli forces”.

Expansion Operations

It pointed out that in conjunction with the establishment of this military site, the army is also carrying out expansion operations in the Philadelphia Axis area, noting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conducted yesterday an assessment of the situation with the Minister of War and army leadership, as well as with the commanders of the four brigades operating in Gaza and the surrounding area.

“Maariv” reported that the evaluation focused on the possibility of ending the second stage of the fighting and moving to the third stage, which relies more on air strikes.
