Germany: Law to Deport Migrants Who Express “Dangerous” Approval on Social Media Posts

FALCON POWERS – Germany is moving to tighten security rules within its borders by enacting a government draft law to deport any person who supports serious crimes and actions that threaten the country’s security, which includes approving a post that supports such crimes on social media.

This comes as the German Cabinet approved the new law draft presented by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser in its weekly session on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, according to government sources.

Accordingly, it will become easier and possible in the future to deport someone if they support a serious crime or one act of terrorism. The draft noted that the approval criterion is not limited only to simply sharing content, but also includes, for example, liking a post that supports such crimes on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
