Palestinian Health Ministry: 69% of Children in Gaza Have Received the First Dose of the Polio Vaccine

FALCON POWERS – The Ministry of Health reported that 69% of children in the Gaza Strip (aged from birth to 10 years) have received the first dose of the polio vaccine.

The ministry explained in a statement that, after seven days since the launch of the first round of the vaccination campaign against polio, this number has been reached as part of the ongoing campaign in the Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis governorates and surrounding areas, as of Sunday evening.

It noted that the number of children who received the first dose had reached 441,647 by Saturday evening, comprising 49% females and 51% males.

The ministry clarified that the first round of the vaccination campaign will continue in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates, and that the teams from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, UNRWA, the World Health Organization, and UNICEF are continuing their efforts in the vaccination campaign despite the ongoing aggression of the occupation on the Strip, and amid significant risks to their movement between vaccination centers.
