“Adaisseh Ambush”: Details of Clashes Resulting in 8 Israeli Soldiers Dead and 30 Injured

FALCON POWERS – Violent confrontations occurred early Wednesday morning between the Israeli army and Hezbollah fighters in the Adaisseh area of southern Lebanon, following an attempt by an Israeli army unit to infiltrate the town.

An Israeli army statement regarding the number of casualties in southern Lebanon indicates that the clashes included at least three ambushes carried out by Hezbollah fighters in border towns against the troops and military vehicles involved in the ground incursion.

These ambushes collectively resulted in the deaths of 8 officers and soldiers, with around 30 others injured, including 7 in critical condition, among them several officers, according to the official toll announced by the Israeli army.

One of the skirmishes resulted in the deaths of 5 Israeli soldiers and dozens sustaining varying injuries, while the Israeli army claimed that at least 30 Hezbollah fighters were killed during the confrontations.

According to the Israeli narrative reported by Army Radio, the special unit “Aguz” (part of the 98th Division) launched a nighttime attack in southern Lebanon as part of a large-scale military operation. They positioned themselves in one of the villages, leading to intense clashes inside one of the buildings.

The force, which included elite unit members, faced Hezbollah fighters in a direct battle while attempting to storm one of the houses. The Israeli troops were subjected to intensive fire using anti-tank missiles and mortar shells.

This resulted in the deaths of 6 soldiers and injuries to dozens. The Israeli forces intensified aerial and artillery bombardments in an attempt to regain control of the situation and rescue the injured, while Hezbollah fighters continued their attacks during the evacuation of the wounded.

In response, Hezbollah issued a series of statements confirming that its forces thwarted Israeli infiltration attempts in the Adaisseh, Maroun al-Ras, and Yaron areas, as well as targeting Israeli troop gatherings in the border region.

Hezbollah fighters targeted Israeli forces with guided missiles and pre-prepared explosive devices, resulting in casualties among Israeli soldiers.

In one statement, Hezbollah announced that its fighters ambushed an Israeli unit attempting to flank the town of Yaron, using “special” explosive devices, leading to the deaths of all unit members.

Hezbollah claimed that its fighters monitored an Israeli infantry unit that infiltrated a house in the town of Kfar Kila, where they detonated a pre-prepared explosive device “before showering it with a hail of machine-gun fire and rocket shells, causing casualties among its members.”

Hezbollah stated that its fighters engaged an Israeli infantry unit “attempting to infiltrate the town of Adaisseh from the direction of Khela al-Mahafir, clashing with them and inflicting casualties, forcing them to retreat.”

They also announced that their fighters were “engaged in clashes with an Israeli infiltration force entering the town of Maroun al-Ras from the eastern side, inflicting several injuries among them.” Reports indicated that the clashes continued for several hours, with mutual shelling and direct engagement.
