Sweden Again: Gunfire Near Israeli Target and Suspect Detained

FALCON POWERS – After the Israeli embassy in Stockholm was shot at about 10 days ago, another similar incident occurred in Sweden. The Swedish police announced on Thursday that they are investigating gunfire near an Israeli target in Gothenburg.

In a statement, the police reported that there were no injuries. They also added that a suspect has been arrested at the scene, and a preliminary investigation has been launched regarding attempted murder and the use of dangerous weapons.

This comes after the Swedish police announced on October 2 that the Israeli embassy in Stockholm was shot at on the evening of Tuesday, October 1, without causing any injuries, and an investigation was opened into the incident.

Rebecca Landberg, a press liaison at the Stockholm police, told AFP, “We recorded evidence indicating that the Israeli embassy was shot at, but we do not want to disclose further details as the investigation is ongoing.” The Swedish Security Service (Sapo) announced that Iran may be involved in the explosions and gunfire near Israeli embassies in Sweden and Denmark on October 1.

Danish police also stated that they arrested three Swedish citizens on Wednesday, October 2, after two explosions, believed to be caused by hand grenades, occurred near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen.

Additionally, the police in Copenhagen reported hearing an explosion at night about 500 meters from the Israeli embassy in Denmark on October 7, five days after a similar attack took place near this diplomatic mission.
