Major Fire at British Nuclear Submarine Construction Yard

FALCON POWERS – Two people were injured and taken to the hospital on Wednesday after a large fire broke out at the shipyard constructing Britain’s nuclear-powered submarines.

The British police stated in a press release that “a significant fire erupted just after midnight at the BAE Systems shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, in the northwest of England,” adding that “there is no nuclear risk.”

Images shared on social media showed flames and smoke rising from an industrial building near the shipyard. The 150-year-old shipyard, located about 220 miles (350 kilometers) northwest of London, is currently building several nuclear-powered submarines for the Royal Navy.
