Swedish doctors forget a piece of cloth inside a woman after childbirth

FALCONPOWERS – A medical scandal has recently occurred at Skövde University Hospital in the city of Malmö, Sweden, involving a serious medical negligence. Doctors left a piece of cloth inside a woman’s uterus after her delivery, which went undetected for two months. This grave medical error resulted in the woman suffering from severe health symptoms and losing trust in the Swedish healthcare system.

After giving birth, the woman began experiencing yellowish and foul-smelling discharge, as well as continuous pelvic pain.

Despite consulting doctors and healthcare services, she was informed that these symptoms were normal after childbirth unless the odor resembled “rotten fish.” After enduring ten weeks of continuous suffering, during a postnatal check-up, an unpleasant “smell” was noticed, and the woman was advised to wait a few days before contacting the women’s clinic if the smell did not disappear. Finally, during a subsequent visit after ten days, the foreign object, a piece of cloth used to control bleeding during the stitching after delivery, was discovered inside her. The woman immediately underwent a new surgical procedure, and the medical negligence was reported.
