President Abbas: If Rafah is invaded, it will be the biggest catastrophe in our history.

Falcon powers – President Mahmoud Abbas said during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, “If Israel invades Rafah, it will be the biggest catastrophe in the history of our people.”

President Abbas also stated, “I fear that Israel will move to the West Bank after Gaza to deport its people towards Jordan.”

He stressed the need for a political solution that unifies the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, into an independent Palestinian state through an international conference.

Rafah

During his intervention at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on Sunday, President Abbas renewed his call for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the immediate entry of food and essential supplies to the residents throughout the region.

He affirmed that under no circumstances would they accept the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank from their homeland, and they would not allow a repetition of the tragedies of 1948 and 1967.

President Abbas once again warned of an imminent Israeli attack on the city of Rafah, which is currently home to 2.2 million Palestinians, which would result in a new catastrophe for the Palestinian people.

He called for pressure on Israel to halt the invasion of Rafah, particularly from the United States, as it is the only country capable of preventing this crime.

Abbas stated, “The situation in Gaza is extremely tragic. More than 200 days have passed, during which Israel has taken the opportunity to attack our people in Gaza under the pretext of revenge against Hamas, but in reality, it seeks revenge against the entire Palestinian people.”

He further added that Israel has killed over 34,000 civilians, mostly children, women, and the elderly, and injured 75,000. It has also destroyed 75% of buildings, institutions, roads, mosques, and universities in the Gaza Strip.

He noted that what is happening in Gaza applies, in one way or another, to the West Bank, expressing his concern that after its aggression on Gaza ends, Israel will move to deport Palestinians from the West Bank. He emphasized that Jordan and Egypt have categorically rejected the deportation of Palestinians from their homeland to their territories.

President Abbas called on the countries that have not recognized the state of Palestine to do so immediately, following their recognition of Israel. Afterward, negotiations can be held with Israel regarding borders and other matters.
