Hamas: We Accept Mediators’ Proposal for Ceasefire

FALCON POWERS – According to a senior source within the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the movement has informed Qatari and Egyptian mediators of its acceptance of their proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In a press statement issued by Hamas, it stated, “The esteemed mujahid, Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, conducted a phone call with the Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and with the Egyptian Minister of Intelligence, Mr. Abbas Kamel, and informed them of Hamas’ acceptance of their proposal regarding a ceasefire agreement.”

Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson, Daniel Haggai, stated that they are seriously studying Hamas’ response to the ceasefire proposal, while skepticism has been expressed by political officials.

In response to a question about Hamas’ announcement of the ceasefire, Haggai said, “We are studying every answer and response seriously, and we are exhausting all possibilities regarding negotiations and the release of hostages.”

Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets reported that the political establishment in Israel did not view Hamas’ acceptance of the ceasefire proposal as a serious commitment, noting that Hamas agreed to a modified version of the proposal that Israel has not yet agreed upon.

The Israeli broadcasting authority quoted a source as saying, “This is a unilateral response from Hamas to an Egyptian proposal, and once we receive it, we will study it and respond.”

The Israeli military radio also stated that Israel has not yet agreed to the proposal that Hamas has accepted.
