FALCON POWERS – The French Foreign Ministry stated that the recognition of a Palestinian state “is not prohibited,” but the conditions are not currently present “for such a decision to have a real impact” on the process aimed at establishing two states.
Foreign Minister Stéphane Sejournié said in a statement to AFP that “such a decision must be useful, that is, allow for decisive progress on the political front. In this context, this decision must be taken at the right time” to make a difference.
Sejournié, who received his Israeli counterpart Yisrael Katz on Wednesday morning, felt that “the matter is not just a symbolic issue or a political positioning, but a diplomatic tool used to resolve the two-state solution living side by side in peace and security.”
