5 Cities Under Bombardment… Sudan’s War “Spiraling Out of Control”

FALCON POWERS – Intense air and ground bombardment, as well as deadly clashes, have erupted in the three capital cities of Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri, as well as the cities of El-Fasher and Nyala in the Darfur region, and other areas in central Sudan. This has led to the deaths of hundreds in recent days and caused massive destruction to infrastructure and residential areas.

With no signs of the warring parties, the army and the Rapid Support Forces, succumbing to international pressure to return to the negotiating table, there is growing conviction within Sudan and abroad that the war, which has raged for over a year, has spiraled out of control.

Indiscriminate Bombardment

Many areas of the capital are witnessing intense indiscriminate bombardment by both sides, which has claimed the lives of more than 80 civilians over 4 days in northwest Omdurman and south Khartoum. Entire families were killed as a result of the fall of “danahs” (explosive projectiles) and other explosives in their homes. There were reports of hundreds of prisoners being killed in the air raids carried out by the army air force on the main oil refinery in the Gaily area north of Khartoum in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Outside the capital, violent clashes in the northern, western, and southern parts of the Gezira region have led to the deaths of at least 40 people since Saturday morning. Many areas in Gao in eastern Sudan and White Nile state have also witnessed continuous artillery and air bombardment for more than two weeks.
