Falcon powers – The Tunisian Interior Minister, Kamel Feki, announced that approximately 53,000 people have attempted to leave Tunisia to reach Europe since the beginning of the current year.

Minister Feki stated that at least 52,972 people tried to cross the Tunisian maritime borders towards Europe since the beginning of 2024. He explained that 92% of those intercepted at sea hold foreign nationalities.

During the opening session of the “Arab Forum for Stopping Migrant Smuggling and Promoting Safe and Regular Migration Pathways” held in Tunisia on Wednesday, May 22, the minister revealed that 4,336 people were rescued at sea, with 98% (4,243 people) holding foreign nationalities.
