Falcon powers – The membership of Deputy Sébastien Delogu of the “La France Insoumise” party was suspended for fifteen days after he waved the Palestinian flag in the National Assembly premises yesterday, Tuesday, which is the highest penalty allowed under the internal regulations.
The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, condemned what she described as “unacceptable provocative behavior” and said “there can be no leniency in this matter”, she also suspended the session and excluded Delogu.
After the vote, the penalty was confirmed, which stipulates a halving of Delogu’s parliamentary salary for two months and his temporary exclusion for 15 days.
During a debate session on the Middle East, Alma Dufour, a deputy from the “Democratic and Social Republican Left” party, asked the government about the situation in Gaza and accused it of “refusing even to reprimand Israel”, at which point Sébastien Delogu stood up waving the Palestinian flag amid applause from his group.
