Washington: Awaiting Hamas’ Response to Ceasefire Proposal

Falcon powers – White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that Washington is still awaiting a response from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to Israel’s ceasefire proposal, which was revealed by US President Joe Biden on Friday.

Sullivan told reporters, “We’re waiting for a response from Hamas” through Qatari mediators.

Sullivan also reported that CIA Director William Burns will visit Doha to consult with Qatari mediators regarding the ceasefire proposal in Gaza.

Sullivan said: “We hope that Hamas will accept the proposal as the best path to end the war, secure the release of all hostages, and increase humanitarian aid.” He added: “We continue to put pressure on the Israelis to develop a comprehensive and coherent strategy linked to the end of military operations.”

He continued: “We believe that a ceasefire in Gaza can lead to calm on the border between Israel and Lebanon.”

In this context, Hamas’ Political Bureau member Ghassan Hamad affirmed that the ball is now in the Israeli court, not Hamas’, explaining that the movement does not have any new proposals to say yes or no to.
