Cypriot President Comments on Hassan Nasrallah’s Warning… What Did He Say?

FALCON POWERS – Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades commented on the threat issued by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday against his country, saying that Cyprus “is not involved in any military conflicts”.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, citing the news site “Cyprus Mail”, Anastasiades said:

  • Cyprus is not involved in any military conflicts, and considers itself part of the solution, not the problem.
  • The Cypriot President affirmed that his country’s role is that of a “humanitarian aid provider”.
  • Our humanitarian corridor (for Gaza) is a testament to our commitment to peace and stability.
  • We have open diplomatic channels with the Lebanese and Iranian governments, and we will address the matter (Nasrallah’s statements) through these channels.
  • Anastasiades acknowledged that Nasrallah’s statements are “concerning”. What did Hassan Nasrallah say about Cyprus?

• In a speech during the mourning of a senior leader in his party, who was killed last week by Israeli fire, Nasrallah warned Cyprus for the first time that Hezbollah may consider it part of the war if it continues to allow Israel to use its airports and bases for military exercises or attacks on Lebanon.

• Nasrallah added that “opening Cypriot airports and bases for the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon means that the Cypriot government is part of the war and the resistance will deal with it as part of the war”.

Nasrallah’s statements come after the Israeli army announced its approval of operational plans for an attack in Lebanon.

The Hezbollah leader mentioned that this is the first time since 1948 that a security belt is formed in northern Israel and that this large number of civilians are being displaced due to Hezbollah’s strikes.
