Armenia Announces Recognition of the Palestinian State

Falcon powers – Armenia announced on Friday that it recognizes the Palestinian state, according to a statement from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry stated on its website that Yerevan declares its recognition of the State of Palestine.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry said in its statement: “The catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing military conflict are among the fundamental issues on the international political agenda that require a solution.”

It added: “The Republic of Armenia firmly rejects the targeting of civilian infrastructure, violence against civilians, and the detention of civilians as hostages and their imprisonment during armed conflict, and joins the international community’s calls for their unconditional release.”

The Foreign Ministry statement continued: “The Republic of Armenia has joined the UN General Assembly resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Furthermore, the Republic of Armenia is interested in establishing peace and stability in the Middle East and a lasting reconciliation between the Jewish and Palestinian peoples.”

It went on to say: “We have consistently advocated, through various international forums, for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue and supported the principle of the two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

We are convinced that this is the only way to ensure the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians and Israelis.”

In conclusion, “Based on the above, and in affirmation of its commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence between peoples, the Republic of Armenia recognizes the State of Palestine.”
