The United States Withdraws the Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier from the Red Sea

FALCON POWERS – The Pentagon has announced the withdrawal of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier from the Red Sea, to be replaced by the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group. American sources have denied the Houthi claims about successfully targeting the Eisenhower carrier.

The U.S. military has announced its intention to withdraw the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier from the Red Sea, which had been deployed there months ago in response to the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel, followed by the Iran-backed Houthi attacks targeting maritime navigation in the Red Sea.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Saturday (June 22, 2024) that the carrier and its strike group are on their way back to the United States, and will be replaced by the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group, once it completes its current training in the Pacific Ocean.

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that the American aircraft carrier “Theodore Roosevelt” will be deployed to the Middle East to continue the U.S. presence mission in the region.

This comes a day after the Houthi group claimed that they had targeted the Eisenhower carrier in the Red Sea. However, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing unnamed U.S. officials, that this claim is “false”.

The Pentagon statement confirming the withdrawal of the Eisenhower carrier noted that the carrier “provided protection for vessels transiting the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden, and rescued innocent mariners from the unlawful attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthis, and contributed to deterring further aggression.”
