Occupation forces release 50 prisoners from Gaza, including director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex

FALCON POWERS – The Israeli occupation authorities released, on Monday, 50 prisoners from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested during their ongoing aggression on the Strip since October 7, 2023.

The occupation also released Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmeya, the director of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, after more than 7 months of his detention, along with a number of medical personnel who were arrested by the occupation from hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with journalists after his release, Abu Salmeya spoke about the details of his arrest and the conditions of the Israeli prisons and detention centers, and the suffering of the prisoners inside them.

Abu Salmeya said that “the prisoners are going through a tragic situation that the Palestinian people have not witnessed since 1948, including the old and new prisoners, everyone is suffering from physical humiliation and difficulties in food and drink, and the resistance must have a decisive word for the release of the prisoners.”

He added that “the old prisoners are suffering the most, some of whom have spent more than 20 years in prisons, and the prisons must be cleared of prisoners.”

He stressed that “the occupation is now arresting everyone, including medical personnel, and there are those who have been martyred inside Israeli prisons,” noting that “the occupation has proven the extent of its criminality in its treatment of the medical staff.”
