80% of Swedes prefer to cremate their dead… Acute crisis in cremation facilities in Sweden

Falcon powers – Cremation has become an entrenched approach in dealing with the deceased in Sweden, where 80% of deaths are cremated instead of being buried. Although the early Swedish Vikings practiced cremation, this practice stopped with the advent of Christianity in Sweden in the 16th century, but it has resurfaced in the modern era with the absence of the application of Christian religious concepts in Swedish society.

A report by Swedish television indicated that requests for cremation of the deceased in Sweden are witnessing a significant increase, necessitating the expansion of building new crematories. In this context, Peter Berglund, director of the Uppsala cemetery, told Swedish television, “We have a very large increase in the number of cremations, we have reached the maximum and we cannot meet the growing demands we have for the next two months.”
