Ballot boxes opened in the second round of the French legislative elections

Falcon powers – It is unlikely that Jordan Bardella will become the new Prime Minister as he will not have enough MPs to control the executive power.

The ballot boxes were opened in the second round of the French legislative elections, which is seeing fierce competition between the far-right National Rally party and the new left-wing Popular Front.

According to the latest opinion polls before the second round of legislative elections today, Sunday, the far-right National Rally (RN) party led by Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen will have difficulty reaching an absolute majority.

The latest projections indicate that the right-wing party and its allies will obtain a relative majority of between 210 and 240 seats in the National Assembly, but the absolute majority is 289 seats.

The left-wing coalition, the New Popular Front (NFP), is expected to win between 170 and 200 seats.

At the same time, President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist party is expected to win between 95 and 125 seats, according to opinion polls.

If these projections are confirmed on Sunday, it is unlikely that Bardella will become the new Prime Minister as he will not have enough MPs to control the French executive power even with additional support from allies. Even in the best-case scenario, he is likely to fail to achieve an absolute majority.
