Anxiety in Washington: Prisoner Swap Deal Complicates, Sinwar Determined to Fight

Falcon powers – A senior US administration official said that the process of freeing hostages is likely to “complicate” the efforts of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to secure the release of the remaining captives held by Hamas as part of a deal.

According to the same senior official, quoted by NBC News today (Monday), the “release of the hostages” is not the problem itself, but “this has reinforced Netanyahu’s determination to continue military operations rather than agree to a ceasefire, as well as Sinwar’s determination to continue fighting due to the large number of Palestinians killed during the operation.”

In addition, the same official pointed out that due to Benny Gantz’s withdrawal from the government, this, according to him, poses an additional complication to the efforts to reach an agreement.

The report comes against the backdrop of the expected arrival today of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Israel, who will also visit Egypt and Jordan and conclude his visit in Qatar on Wednesday.

Blinken will attempt to present the latest US plan for the prisoner swap deal.
