FALCON POWERS – Two French officers were killed and three others were injured after armed assailants launched an attack on a truck transporting a prisoner today in Normandy.
The attack took place as the patrol was returning to the Évreux prison after a court hearing in Rouen, according to French channel BFMTV.
The French Ministry of the Interior deployed around 200 gendarmes in an attempt to search for the attackers who managed to smuggle the prisoner named Mohammed Amara.
Masked individuals attacked the truck transporting the prisoner at 11 a.m. local time. French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin posted on the X platform, “We have deployed all means to apprehend the criminals and have instructed the mobilization of hundreds of police officers and gendarmes.”
