Falcon powers – British Defense Minister Grant Shapps stated today, Wednesday, that he does not see an urgent need to deploy Western forces to Ukraine, and it is unlikely that he will propose such action in the near future. Shapps added in an interview with the British newspaper “Telegraph,” “I do not propose sending a single military boot to Ukraine, and I don’t think I will do so in the future, nor do I believe it is necessary.”
At the same time, he emphasized the need for the West to ensure proper funding and training for Ukrainian allies, as well as providing them with all the necessary equipment.
According to him, Western countries do not need to find new ways to assist Ukraine; rather, they need to enhance the current support to the level offered by Britain.
Earlier, London announced its intention to provide military aid worth £3 billion annually.
In a related context, Estonian National Security Advisor Madis Reim stated on Monday that his country is considering the possibility of sending its forces to western Ukraine to assume logistical tasks that would enable Kiev’s forces to fight on the front lines.
Recently, NATO countries have increasingly discussed direct intervention in the Ukrainian conflict. For example, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the possibility of sending French forces to Ukraine last week, and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron suggested that the Ukrainian armed forces could attack Russian territory with British missiles.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described the situation as an unprecedented round of escalating tension, which requires attention and special measures.
