FALCON POWERS – British reconnaissance aircraft have carried out over 200 surveillance sorties over Gaza as part of their assistance to Israel in the conflict.
Since the day three British aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, the British surveillance aircraft have gathered 1,000 hours of intelligence.
According to British reports, the British aircraft landed at the Israeli base in Nevatim on February 2nd. These are the R1 SHADOW aircraft, which have the capability to provide the necessary information for targeting attacks. The aircraft have conducted over 200 aerial sorties over Gaza since December. There were 44 sorties in March.
Due to the possibility of arrest warrants being issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his ministers, concerns have emerged in Britain that British individuals may also be at risk due to their involvement in this war. This may include British Defense Minister Grant Shapps.
The British aircraft took off from the Royal Air Force base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, and each sortie lasted six hours.
The R1 surveillance aircraft operate from their permanent base in Waddington, United Kingdom. Recently, the British Army allocated £110 million to upgrade the aircraft and increase the fleet from six to eight of this type.
