China Calls on the United States to Halt Arms Sales to Taiwan

FALCON POWERS – Representative Chu Fenglian of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China has emphasized that the United States must cease arming Taiwan.

Speaking at a press conference in response to the approval of the Taiwan Assurance Act by the U.S. Senate, Chu Fenglian stated, “We call on the United States to take concrete actions to fulfill its commitment to not supporting Taiwan independence and to cease all forms of arms sales to the island.”

She pointed out that the legislation seriously violates the principle of “One China” and the three joint communiques between China and the United States. She also emphasized that it sends a signal to separatist forces advocating for Taiwan’s independence. Fenglian underscored that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter for China and that Beijing does not tolerate any external interference.
