China Develops New Nuclear Submarines

Falcon powers – The military news website Navy Recognition has reported that China is working on developing a new generation of multi-purpose nuclear-powered military submarines.

The website noted that “some Chinese social media pages have recently circulated photos showing a model of China’s latest multi-purpose nuclear submarine of the Type-093B class, equipped with vertical missile launch platforms.”

According to the website, the new submarines will be an upgraded version of the Type-093 submarines, which U.S. intelligence reports had indicated that the Chinese military possesses six units.

Each Type-093 submarine is 107 meters long, displaces 6,000 tons of water, and is armed with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles with a range of up to 300 km.

Experts at Navy Recognition speculate that the new submarines may be equipped with new anti-ship ballistic missiles called YJ-21, which are expected to become the main armament of China’s promising Type-55 destroyers in the future.

Some websites have suggested that each Type-093B submarine will be 126 meters long, 11 meters wide, and displace 6,200 tons of water. They will be capable of speeds up to 30 knots and may be equipped with missiles with a range of up to 2,500 km.
