FALCON POWERS – In the midst of the ongoing war against Hamas, it appears that Israel is facing a historic defeat, despite the fierce fighting in Gaza and the significant damage inflicted on Hamas’s military infrastructure, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv. The paper added that despite these efforts, the goals of the war have not been achieved.
The newspaper stated that at this time, the War Cabinet and the General Staff are “misleading the public by issuing vague statements and half-truths.”
Maariv explained that since the beginning of the ground operation on October 27, the Israeli government has set four main objectives for the campaign: to destroy Hamas’s military capability, eliminate the terrorist threat to Israel, protect the country’s borders and its citizens, and achieve these goals. However, after eight months of war, none of these objectives have been achieved, and the Speaker of the Knesset, Tzipi Hengbei, admitted this in the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, saying: “We have not achieved any of the strategic goals of the war.”
According to the newspaper, despite the significant damage inflicted on the Hamas movement, it remains capable of reasserting its military control in every area from which the Israeli army withdraws. Hamas has also succeeded in reorganizing its ranks and regaining its strength in northern and southern Gaza. The Israeli army has also acknowledged that the operation in Jabaliya did not lead to the dismantling of the military capability of the Jabaliya battalion and the Northern Brigade of Hamas, as the Israeli forces were surprised by the large number of Hamas fighters who remained in the area and the volume of fire they were able to unleash.
Under these circumstances, the newspaper states, the War Cabinet and the General Staff are continuing to implement failed strategies, where forces are withdrawn after taking control of an area, allowing Hamas to reorganize its ranks and fortify its positions once again.
