FALCON POWERS – All water wells in the city of Gaza have been completely destroyed for the past two weeks due to fuel shortages, leaving two million people on the brink of death from thirst, according to Salama Marouf, the head of the government media office.
Marouf stated that Gaza is facing a new environmental catastrophe, adding to the series of disasters caused by the occupation in the Gaza Strip since its brutal aggression. This catastrophe involves the complete cessation of all water wells in the city due to the depletion of the limited fuel supplies provided to the municipality of Gaza in recent times.
He further stated, “With the municipality’s inability to operate the surviving water wells that escaped the brutality and bombardment of the occupation, the entire city is now suffering from extreme thirst due to the water cut-off. This is especially critical as water pumping from the ‘Mekorot’ line has been halted since the beginning of the aggression, and the complete destruction of the desalination plant, as well as more than 40 water wells and 120,000 meters of water networks in the city.”
Marouf emphasized that this crisis has reached its peak with the rising temperatures and increased demand and consumption. It requires urgent intervention from all relevant parties to provide fuel and promptly restore water supply to the citizens, saving them from severe thirst and the escalating health and environmental crisis caused by the water shortage.
