Egyptian Finance Ministry: Over $8 Billion Total Value of Released Goods Since March


Falcon powers – The Egyptian government is working on immediate customs clearance for essential goods and supportive production supplies directly related to industries. The total value of released goods from the beginning of March until now has exceeded $8 billion.

Mohamed Maait, the Egyptian Minister of Finance, explained that this approach aligns with the government’s aim to increase the supply of goods in the market, which helps achieve price stability. It is part of the state’s continuous efforts to alleviate the burden on citizens’ livelihoods as much as possible.


He emphasized the permanent coordination between customs officials and representatives of relevant entities, including the General Authority for Export and Import Control, the National Food Safety Authority, the Agricultural Quarantine, and the Health Quarantine, among other inspection bodies, to expedite the immediate release procedures for goods and commodities at various ports.

Priority is given to essential goods, foodstuffs, medicines, animal feed, and production supplies.

On his part, Shereef Ghattoury, the head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, stated that the newly implemented electronic systems contribute to accelerating the pace of customs clearance for goods and their entry into local markets and production units.

He added that work is ongoing around the clock at customs checkpoints in collaboration with various relevant entities to ensure the swift completion of immediate release procedures for goods.
