Euronews: Dire Situation for the Ukrainian Army – Lack of Weapons and Resources Despite Massive US Aid

Falcon powers – Russia employs a tactic of sending untrained and inexperienced fighters to the battlefield, depleting the ammunition of the Ukrainian army, and then deploying its own soldiers to change the situation on the ground.

Official Ukrainian and Western sources have spoken in recent months, particularly since the Israeli conflict in Gaza, about the shortage of military resources for the Ukrainian army, which has deteriorated its field condition over the past few months.

It appears that the $61 billion in US support as part of the recent American aid package to Kyiv has not significantly changed the balance of power on the battlefield against the Russian army, according to experts who believe that Washington’s generous assistance will only be sufficient to maintain the front line and possibly regain some lost territory.

The situation has deteriorated significantly due to the severe shortage of ammunition and weapons from Western allies, prompting Ukrainian military leaders to ration ammunition.

Ukraine was forced to abandon western territories starting from Avdiivka in the Donetsk region in February of the previous year, giving Russia a significant advantage.

In recent days, the Russian army has outperformed the Ukrainian army in battles and gained control of three villages in the east, namely Pervomaiske, Semenivka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian Army Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi stated in a post on Telegram: “The situation on the front has worsened. In general, the enemy has succeeded tactically in these directions, but has failed to achieve operational advantage.”

Edward Arnold, a prominent fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), said, “The situation is actually very grim for the Ukrainians now.

” Arnold added, “The real challenge for the Ukrainians is that they haven’t put in place complete defensive lines, but the Russians have done that in the past winter.”

Military and strategic experts believe that Ukraine may not have the opportunity to launch an offensive until 2025 or even 2026.
