Falconpowers- Israel has evacuated several of its embassies in anticipation of potential Iranian retaliation following the assassination of Mohammad Zahedi, a commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Monday.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported on Friday that the decision to evacuate the embassies was made after an assessment of the situation by the Israeli security agency, Shin Bet, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in preparation for “any Iranian retaliatory response to the killing of a senior commander in the Revolutionary Guard in Damascus.
” The Broadcasting Corporation did not specify the names of the countries where the embassies were evacuated.
In addition, the Broadcasting Corporation noted that Israel is “preparing” for potential Iranian attacks within three scenarios: missile and drone launches and artillery fire from Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, and Yemeni territories targeting Israel, direct ballistic missile launches from Iran itself towards Israel, or attempts by armed cells to infiltrate Israel through its borders.
Regarding the timing, the Broadcasting Corporation mentioned that expectations indicate that “today will be decisive” because it is the last Friday of the month of Ramadan, which is considered a particularly sensitive day (International Quds Day).
The Broadcasting Corporation also announced that the Israeli army has imposed a state of “extreme readiness,” not only in the air defense domain but also in intelligence systems.
