Falcon powers – The Israeli occupation army launched, on Sunday, the first day of Eid al-Adha, air and artillery strikes on border towns in southern Lebanon, after a cautious calm had prevailed on this front for 12 hours.
The official Lebanese News Agency reported that the Israeli warplanes “in the afternoon carried out an aerial aggression, where they launched an air strike targeting the town of Yaroun in the Bint Jbeil district (south) with two air-to-ground missiles.”
Meanwhile, local sources, who requested anonymity, said that the artillery of the Israeli occupation army targeted the outskirts of the towns of Halta and Kafr Shuba, after 12 hours of cautious calm.
On the other hand, the Israeli occupation army said in a statement via the “X” platform: “A short while ago, fighter jets attacked a Hezbollah military site in the Yaroun area.”
It added: “The forces also carried out artillery fire to remove a threat in the Aamera area in southern Lebanon.”
According to the statement of the occupation army, its air defenses “intercepted a suspicious aerial target over southern Lebanon.”
Israel usually refers to the drone as a “suspicious aerial target.”
The occupation added that its forces “last night (Saturday) bombed a Hezbollah military building in (the town of) Kafr Kela and infrastructure in (the town of) Marouheen.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli Channel 12 (private) reported that “a drone was intercepted in Nahariya (north), without activating the alert sirens.”
It added that “the army (Israeli) responded by shelling targets in southern Lebanon.”
In the past week, the “Blue Line” separating Lebanon and Israel witnessed a noticeable escalation in confrontations, raising fears of turning into a wider war between the two sides.
Israel continues its war on Gaza, ignoring two Security Council resolutions to end it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah (south) and take measures to prevent genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
