FALCON POWERS – Russia on Sunday urged the United States to confront “policies of incitement to hatred,” in its first comment on the attempt to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate, former US President Donald Trump.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the Telegram app that Washington should confront policies of incitement to hatred against political opponents, countries and peoples, arguing that such policies will rebound on the United States.
She added, “Those who vote in the United States to supply (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky with weapons, it might be better to use this money to fund the US police and other agencies to ensure law and order in the United States.”
She also referred to the attempted assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov spoke about, and said, “It was prepared using American money without which the malicious activities of the intelligence and security services of Ukraine would not have been possible.”
Trump had promised to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict quickly if elected US president, which could mean pushing Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow from a weak position, according to the French news agency.
Putin had previously said that he is “seriously” looking at the “desire to end the war in Ukraine” expressed by Donald Trump.
