Falcon powers – Hezbollah announced today, Saturday, that it had launched a salvo of Falaq 2 missiles at a military command center in northern occupied Palestine.
A security source told Reuters that this is the first time the party has used this type of missile, after launching the Falaq 1 missile in dozens of previous attacks.
What are its capabilities?
“Falaq 2” is an Iranian-made surface-to-surface missile, with a diameter of 333 millimeters and an explosive warhead weighing 120 kilograms, with a range of 11 kilometers.
Its speed exceeds the speed of sound, and the missile’s charge during launch is equivalent to 12 rockets of the (107mm) type or (6 Grad rockets).
Falaq 1 and Falaq 2 are similar in most capabilities, but the speed of the Falaq 2 missile is 85% higher, due to its larger and more powerful engine.
Earlier on Saturday, the National News Agency in Lebanon reported that an Israeli air strike on the outskirts of the town of Aytaroun in the south of the country led to the martyrdom of two people.
The agency’s report stated that the Israeli forces fired two guided missiles targeting a cafe at a gas station, which caused severe damage to the store, the station, and the surrounding area.
The Israeli forces said today that their planes also bombed infrastructure in the Al-Khiam area after tanks had previously opened fire on a Hezbollah military building in the Kafr Kila area.
Hezbollah said in a statement that it carried out “an aerial drone attack on the newly established artillery position in the Sannine area in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms, targeting the positions and whereabouts of the enemy’s officers and soldiers, and accurately hitting its target.”
