Former Israeli Minister: “Israel” on the Verge of Strategic Defeat… Why Should a Prisoner Swap Deal Be Accepted?

Falcon powers – Former Israeli “Justice” Minister Haim Ramon affirmed that the objectives of the Israeli war on Gaza have not been achieved, after it has continued for about 8 months, stressing that “this is clear to everyone.” He criticized the “Cabinet” for the war and the General Staff of the “army” of the occupation, confirming that they are selling illusions to Israelis.

In an article in the Israeli newspaper “Ma’ariv,” Ramon wrote that in light of their “utter failure” to achieve the goals, the “War Cabinet and the General Staff are feeding the public boastfulness and half-truths.”

He added that, coinciding with the internal disagreements between members of the War Cabinet, and their exchange of accusations regarding the issue of the strategic failure in the war, “the time has come to reveal the bitter truth.”

Ramon emphasized that the “War Cabinet” and the General Staff of the Israeli army do not have any practical plan on how to achieve any objectives in the foreseeable future, adding to that the confession of the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tsoachi Hanegbi, who said: “We have not achieved any of the strategic objectives of the war: there are no conditions for a prisoner swap deal, we have not undermined Hamas, and we have not allowed the residents of the envelope to return.”

In contrast to the Israeli failure to achieve the objectives, Ramon acknowledged that “Hamas still stands on its feet in every area of the sector, from which the Israeli army withdrew.”

He added that Hamas has succeeded in restoring its military control, as its fighters have returned to Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip) where “the army worked for long months,” and Hamas still has thousands of fighters in the north of the sector, where the Israeli “army” launched attacks in which it poured all its “strength and capability,” according to the former minister.

Ramon explained that at the time the “army” announced the dismantling of the military formations of Hamas in the north of the sector in its first attack there, the “army” was surprised in the second attack by the number of Hamas fighters who remained there, and the volume of fire they succeeded in launching.

The former minister emphasized that on the third occasion when “the army” decides to enter Jabaliya, it will be surprised again by the strength of Hamas, citing evidence of the recent operations in which the Palestinian resistance targeted the occupying forces that had penetrated the northern areas, some of which were documented in video clips showing direct hits on the occupation forces.

Regarding the situation in the north of the Gaza Strip, he confirmed that Hamas had fired dozens of rockets towards “Israel” in the recent months. On the civilian side, Hamas oversees the distribution of humanitarian aid across the entire Strip.

Returning to his analysis of the war, its objectives, and its horizon, the former minister affirmed that the majority of the prisoners are still in the Gaza Strip, noting that the justification for the military pressure used by Israeli officials has no connection to reality, and adding that tens of thousands of Israelis fear returning to the settlements in the south and north of Palestine, and that Israel’s international standing has deteriorated to the brink of the abyss.

In light of this, Ramon concluded that “Israel” is on the threshold of a strategic defeat, adding that nevertheless, the Israeli “army” continues to operate according to the strategy that the former minister described as “failed”, explaining that it is based on an attack followed by a withdrawal, “without ever attempting to achieve field control”.

While Israel stands on the threshold of a strategic defeat, the former minister pointed out that the Israeli media, especially military analysts and correspondents, “continue to prattle for the benefit of the General Staff and the entities that are in harmony with it in the war council, and hide the truth from the public about the army’s failure”.

Ramon compared what happened in the northern areas of the Strip with what the Israeli “army” faced in the Zeitoun neighborhood (southeast of Gaza City), where “the army was forced to operate in the Zeitoun neighborhood for the third time, after having withdrawn from it twice before”, due to the resistance’s ability to rebuild its capabilities.
