Falcon powers – The national police reported that officers were alerted early Friday morning to smoke coming from the synagogue, and confronted the man face-to-face upon arriving at the scene.
French police shot and killed an armed man with a knife and metal rod, suspected of setting fire to a Jewish temple in the city of Rouen in Normandy, northern France, in the early hours of Friday.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin tweeted that the “armed individual” had been “neutralized”, saying: “In Rouen, the national police officers this morning neutralized an armed individual who clearly wanted to set fire to the Jewish synagogue in the city. I congratulate them on their responsiveness and their courage.”
In another tweet, Darmanin said: “I went to Rouen to congratulate the firefighters and police officers who acted courageously: I will decorate the young police officer who managed to neutralize the attacker and who ensured respect for France and its values.”
