FALCON POWERS – In a stunning display of local talent, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah celebrated the 25th Silver Jubilee of King Abdullah II of Jordan by wearing a couture design by Jordanian designer Laith Maalouf. The design, rich in symbolism and cultural significance, reflects Jordan’s proud heritage and the achievements realized during the reign of King Abdullah.
Speaking of this important opportunity, Laith Maalouf said: “Queen Rania, who is a humanitarian figure and a fashion icon, has always been a constant source of inspiration. Designing a dress for her has been a long-held dream of mine. It is a true accomplishment, an honor, and a privilege to be entrusted with the task of designing a dress for her to celebrate this great occasion.”
Laith Maalouf also shared the inspiration behind this piece, stating: “The buttons on the shirt represent the seven-star emblem of Jordan, a symbol of unity and hope.
The bodice, which embodies the concept of protective armor for the body, signifies the protection and strength that Jordan has acquired over the past 25 years. The pleated skirt features hand-embroidered wheat stalks, an element deeply rooted in Jordanian heritage.
The wheat motif, traditionally seen in the Jordanian keffiyeh, symbolizes abundance and prosperity, and reflects Jordan’s agricultural legacy and cultural depth.”
The creation of the dress was a labor of love and dedication, taking approximately 200 hours of meticulous work. From the initial meetings with Her Majesty to discuss the design, to sketching, sourcing the right fabrics, designing, sewing, and embroidering, every step was handled with the utmost care and attention to detail by the skilled fashion designers. This remarkable choice underscores Her Majesty’s commitment to promoting and elevating Jordan’s vibrant fashion industry. Laith Maalouf, known for his unique and progressive designs that blend tradition and modern elegance, has crafted a piece that perfectly embodies his craftsmanship and creative vision, making it a fitting tribute to this prestigious occasion.
