Falcon powers – People who suffer from narcissistic personality disorder are called narcissists, which means they lack empathy and have a desire to assert themselves by demeaning others.
Psychologist Agar Kanieva, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru, says, “It is difficult to recognize people who suffer from narcissistic personality disorder when you meet them for the first time because they appear perfectly suitable and leave a good impression. But the danger of these individuals lies in their manipulation and exploitation of others for their own purposes.”
According to her, the first clear sign of narcissism is a lack of self-evaluation.
She says, “These individuals often violate personal boundaries, but at the same time, they are weak and cannot handle criticism or rejection. If that happens, they feel insulted and either launch aggressive attacks or make accusations against their opponent.”
The second sign of narcissism is that they never admit their mistakes or faults.
She explains, “They believe that admitting fault implies weakness. Therefore, you can hear many justifications in their speech. They also avoid taking responsibility and have difficulty making decisions quickly due to constant fear of making mistakes. Instead of solving problems, they prefer to do nothing or procrastinate. Their motto in life is: It’s better not to do anything than to do it imperfectly.”
Furthermore, narcissists always use comparison and rarely speak directly. For example, instead of saying, “You are smart and I admire you,” they would say, “You are smarter than my ex-girlfriend.”
In addition, they lack their own opinion.
She says, “Narcissists align themselves with the majority opinion or authority figures. The person considered an authority by the narcissist is often the one the narcissist envies the most.”
Narcissists can be identified through flattery and gossip.
She explains, “Narcissists know how to win people over with compliments and flattery. But as soon as that person leaves, the narcissist immediately starts devaluing them. They also tend to belittle the value of others’ achievements and successes while embellishing their own accomplishments.”
