Iran Announces the Start of Candidate Registration for Early Presidential Elections

FALCON POWERS – The Election Commission in Iran announced the start of candidate registration for the presidential election starting from May 30th, following the assassination of President Ibrahim Raisi and the vacancy of his position.

The statement from the Election Commission read: “On the evening of May 30th, the registration of candidates for the presidential election will begin and this process will continue until June 3rd. After that, the Guardian Council will start the process of reviewing the qualifications of the candidates over 7 days, and on June 11th, the names of the candidates will be announced and published by the Ministry of Interior.”

“In the period from June 12th to June 26th, the election campaigns of the candidates will begin, and one day before the elections on June 27th, the election silence will start, and the elections will be held on June 28th.”

If the elections are extended to a second round, the following Friday, July 5th, will witness the second round of the presidential elections.
