FALCON POWERS – The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions residing in Tehran to a meeting with Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani on Monday to reaffirm Iran’s determination to respond to Israel, following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, in Tehran last week.
Nasser Kanaani, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said today that Tehran does not want a regional escalation, but stressed that punishing Israel for the assassination of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau is necessary.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, in a regular press conference, added that what Iran will do “will be within the framework of international laws and norms,” explaining: “If international organizations do not want to deter Israel, we cannot stand idly by.”
