Israeli Diplomat: Egypt’s Move at the International Court of Justice is Betrayal and Backstabbing

Falcon powers – An Israeli diplomatic source has described Egypt’s announcement of its intention to intervene in support of South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice as “betrayal and backstabbing,” according to i24NEWS channel.

The source told the Israeli channel, “Egypt is stabbing us in the back at the International Court of Justice after helping us in Sinai.”

In a move that ignited diplomatic tensions between Egypt and Israel, Cairo announced its support for the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The channel noted that Egypt’s decision to support South Africa’s demands has caused astonishment in Israel, with an Israeli diplomatic source describing it as “betrayal,” according to the channel.

The source told i24NEWS, “After everything we have done for them in Sinai, Netanyahu completely violated the annex of the peace agreement, and in return, they stab us in the back.”

The source refers to the treaty annex that determines the deployment of Egyptian forces in the border areas, which has increased in recent years as part of the fight against terrorism in Sinai.

The dispute arises from Israeli military operations along the border between Egypt and Gaza, with Cairo expressing concern that these actions may endanger the peace treaty between the two countries. Egypt has repeatedly warned Israel about the implications of its military presence in the Sinai Peninsula.

Egypt has defended its decision, citing what it described as Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians in Gaza as a justification for its support of the legal action brought by South Africa.
