Israeli Minister: Calls for Dragging Bodies of Martyrs through the Streets

FALCON POWERS – The far-right Israeli Finance Minister of the Occupation, Bezalel Smotrich, called for dragging the bodies of occupied interior Arabs through the streets, “as an example for anyone who thinks of carrying out attacks against Jewish civilians,” according to the Hebrew newspaper “Maariv.”

The newspaper reported that Smotrich made these statements last Sunday, during a stormy session of the Political-Security Cabinet (the Knesset), to discuss the issue of handing over bodies of Palestinians from ’48, which the Occupation claims carried out attacks against settlers.

Smotrich said, “We must put the bodies in a vehicle and drag them to the center of the city, as they used to do in the Torah, to be an example for others.”

For his part, the Israeli Occupation War Minister Yoav Gallant said during the session, “The authority of the Defense Minister is to approve the return of the bodies of the terrorists,” explaining, “The issue of the bodies of Israeli terrorists has been raised, and I decided to keep the body of Walid Daqqa and release five other bodies,” as he described.

Gallant added, “The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, decided to ignore me and gave an order to the police not to obey.”

In response, the extremist minister Ben-Gvir told Gallant, “This is a democratic state, I believe that the release of the bodies of Israeli terrorists is a violation of the law, and it harms our ability to release them in exchange for hostages or the bodies of hostages,” referring to the prisoners in the Gaza Strip, according to Maariv.

He added, “I do not understand what is the reason for the urgency in releasing the bodies, we must continue to detain them.”

For his part, the Minister of “Justice” of the Occupation, Yariv Levin, said, “I do not understand why suddenly there is a right to release the bodies? Where is this determined? No Arab body may be released.”

And the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, asked, “How come we have hostages and prisoners in Gaza and we will release them? Let’s wait to reach a deal.”

In response to the ministers’ remarks, Gallant said, “So I renounce my authority to make decisions, decide what you want.”
