FALCON POWERS – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Wednesday that extremist Israeli settlers attacked two Jordanian aid convoys en route to the Gaza Strip.
The ministry stated in a statement that both convoys completed their mission and reached their destinations inside the besieged enclave.
Without providing further details, the ministry said, “Extremist Israeli settlers attacked two Jordanian aid convoys carrying food, flour, and other humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.” The Israeli legal aid organization, Anino, stated in a statement that the Israeli police arrested four men who “stopped the aid trucks heading to Gaza” near the Ma’ale Adumim settlement in the West Bank.
The Jordanian government condemned the incident and held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for ensuring the protection of aid convoys and international organizations.
Jordan conducts air drops of aid and sends land convoys to deliver assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza during the war that broke out on October 7 between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
The United States is pressuring Israel to take steps to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, where Israeli bombardment and incursion have turned large areas of the enclave into rubble, displacing most of its 2.3 million inhabitants, exposing them to the risk of famine and the spread of diseases.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that one of the convoys on Wednesday, consisting of 31 trucks, was heading towards the Erez crossing to enter northern Gaza, while the other convoy, consisting of 48 trucks, was heading towards the Kerem Shalom crossing to reach southern Gaza.
