Falcon powers – The leader of the Israeli opposition, Yair Lapid, has strongly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, responding to his words in the Knesset plenum.
Addressing Netanyahu, Lapid said: “Why are you still the Prime Minister? How can you not come up to this podium now and ask the people for forgiveness and go back home?”
Lapid added: “You (Netanyahu) have not done your job, you have failed miserably, you are an illegitimate Prime Minister and this government is illegitimate!”
He continued: “Reserve soldiers serve for 150 days, others for 170 and 180 days, risking their lives, getting killed and injured, and you are preoccupied with malicious political tricks. You are not a real Prime Minister, but a hostage in the hands of the extremists in your government. You don’t do what you know is right, because you are terrified to death of (Ministers) Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.”
The leader of the Israeli opposition, addressing Netanyahu, said: “I’ve kicked you out of the Prime Minister’s office once before, and I’ll do it again.”
He added: “The ministers in your government are stealing public money, causing us problems with the people, and destroying the future of our children…Under this government, we will not achieve victory in the war…We need to hold immediate elections to form a balanced and serious government.”
Lapid stressed that Netanyahu “is causing the loss of a historic opportunity to reach a regional peace agreement, leading to a settlement in Gaza and in the north.” He said: “All you have to say is no Hamas and no Fatah, because that’s what’s left of your leadership – the rhymes. It’s time for you to do the right thing for once in your life: go home.”
