Falcon powers – According to Egyptian sources, an Israeli delegation is expected to arrive in Egypt today, carrying Tel Aviv’s approval to engage in a ceasefire deal and begin the prisoner exchange process. The timeline for the deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that the estimates in Egypt indicate the deal will start to take effect at the beginning of next week, provided that things go as planned, amidst serious US pressure on Israel on one hand, and regional diplomatic moves supporting these efforts on the other.
However, there are Egyptian concerns about the Israeli government’s commitment to the ceasefire after receiving part of the prisoners. According to the information, Egypt and Qatar have asked the Palestinian resistance not to carry out attacks targeting Israel, in exchange for verbal US assurances of the end of the war and a guarantee that it will not resume. But there are concerns that these assurances may not be decisive and binding for Washington, whose officials are engaged in the presidential election campaign.
