FALCON POWERS – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated on Thursday that the unstable geopolitical conditions surrounding his country mean that it is time to prepare for war more than ever before. He made these remarks during his visit to the country’s main military university.
Kim issued field instructions on Wednesday at the Kim Jong Il Military Science and Political University, named after his late father who passed away in 2011. The university is considered the highest seat of military education in the country, according to the North Korean Central News Agency.
In recent years, North Korea has intensified its weapons development under Kim’s leadership and has formed closer military and political ties with Russia. It is alleged that North Korea has assisted Moscow in its conflict with Ukraine in exchange for support in strategic military projects. The Korean Central News Agency quoted Kim as saying to university staff and students, “If the enemy chooses military confrontation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the DPRK will deliver a decisive blow to the enemy without hesitation by mobilizing all available means.”
“DPRK” is an abbreviation for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which is the official name for North Korea.
