FALCON POWERS – Eight Israeli soldiers, including an officer of the rank of captain, were killed due to the targeting and explosion of an armored personnel carrier in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, early this Saturday morning.
In the details, the incident resulted from the explosion of the armored personnel carrier as it passed over an explosive device, which led to the death of the soldiers who were inside.
The Walla website reported that the armored personnel carrier exploded as a result of passing over an explosive device near the Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood.
It was reported that the incident occurred around 5:15 am this morning, while the force was heading to the “Mekout” position, which is a house where other forces were present.
When the force headed to the Mekout site, a large explosion occurred without any prior gunfire directed at the armored vehicle, and the Israeli army is investigating whether the explosion was caused by an explosive device planted on the ground or another one attached to the armored personnel carrier.
The explosion of the armored personnel carrier led to other explosions due to the explosive materials in possession of the soldiers, including the explosives in the sides of the armored vehicle.
It was also reported that the fire burned the armored personnel carrier for a long time, and the rescue forces were unable to reach the site for two hours, before it was finally transported to a safe place. The Israeli army launched drones in the sky of the area in search of “saboteurs,” but no one was spotted.
